This is a busy restaurant so plan on a wait or phone in a reservation. The sushi bar is always packed. Friendly service and attentive. The food was appetizing and flavorful. We had the Albacore Onion (pictured), a staple here, the Crispy Rice Tuna (their signature dish), the Robert Roll and the very tasty Baked Crab Hand Roll. A must go to dining experience!

This sushi was very fresh and tasty. The location is also very convenient on the busy Ventura Blvd.I like the food, and Katsu-Ya inspired dishes like the Albacore w/ onion. The price is not that bad maybe around $$$, and the service is good. The layout and decor is also well thought out, but for me it's still missing some of the Japanese flavor.

My one and only sushi spot. No need to say more. Try the ceviche and the seafood salad. Both sashimi style.

This place is amazing! Chef Leo is great - sit at the bar in his area if you're here when he's working. He has amazing attention to detail and a great attitude. The food... Well, let's just say it was SO GOOD that I didn't bother to take pictures cause I couldn't wait to eat it :DAt this place... Food really is art, both beautiful and absolutely delicious!

Katsu-Ya is an excellent Japanese restaurant. The menu includes both traditional and contemporary selections. It is also an excellent value for money. We came as a group of three and only spent around $80 and were well satisfied. Valet parking only.

This restaurant is unquestionably one of the coolest place to eat in the area. Anytime I visit this place I am deeply glad. They maintain their high standard service and the topmost level of cooking they give. You are always happy with this place. Very recommended.

What's there to say? This is the original, later to spawn the vast katsu-ya empire across LA. Consistently great food, and the specialty dishes (which rotate on and off the menu) are all worth trying. I've brought many people here and it's always a hit.Definitely recommend reservations, particularly for groups or at prime hours. But it's worth the wait.

Love this place. Though always crowded, you can generally get same-day reservations; that said, smart to plan ahead. The sushi is great, the service is great, the ambience is fun and energetic without being loud. Really truly one of the best sushi restaurants in Los Angeles.

Incredible sushi. It's even better than Sugarfish, which has always been my fave. Leo is seriously the BEST sushi chef and if you come here, I'd recommend sitting at the bar and asking him to make his delicious off-menu items. I was lucky enough to sit next to a fellow Yelper (Terry N.) who gave me the insider tips on ordering with Leo directly. Truly one of the best meals I've ever had. Great vibes and warm ambiance. Valet parking was $7 and it was fast and convenient.
